CDBG Program 40th Anniversary

CDBG Program hits the big 4-0

As discussed at the April 14, 2014 WCCOG Executive Committee meeting the Comunity Development Block Grant Program is celebrating its 40th Anniversary this year. In addition April 21-26 is Community Development Week when communities around the nation celebrate the many contributions that the CDBG program makes toward community and economic development at the local level.

The numbers are significant for Washington County. Since 1988, the municipalities of Washington County have received a total of $50,166,895 in Community Development Block Grant Funds with $7,636,385 awarded in the past five years.

The Town of Fort Fairfield prepared a Proclamation in appreciation of the CDBG Program for Comunity Development Week. That Proclamation is revised to provide a template (in MSWord format) for any Washington County Community to download here. You will see that the Proclamation includes language that summarizes the total amount of CDBG funds received by the community and the total amount received in the last 5 years. You can download a spreadsheet here that provides all CDBG grants to all Washington County communities from 1982-3013. The totals and last-5-year total for each municipality are calculated in the spreadsheet.

The WCCOG Executive Committee voted to issue a Proclamation on behalf of the General Assembly (download WCCOG Proclamation here) and to order 10 of the CDBG 40th Anniversary Posters. They are being shipped today - contact Judy East if you would like a poster. To order your own poster download the order form here; there are limited supplies left so order soon.

Happy Anniversary CDBG!
